Aim of the course

The course is designed to provide knowledge, skills and attitude in performing Aeronautical Information Management (AIM) duties. It also provides valuable exposure to automated AIS system and insight into some of the key developments in AIS/AIM.

Pre-entry requirements

- Minimum age: 18 years.

- Education or Qualification Requirements: Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) or equivalent with passes in Physics or Mathematics and Geography.

- Medical requirements: Nil.

- Linguistic requirements: Fluent in English Language.

Credits for previous knowledge, experience or other qualifications.

- ICT literacy

- Have worked in any aviation field (for International Applicants)

Course Contents (Theoretical training)

You will acquire knowledge of the principles and ideas of Aeronautical Information Officer in the following subjects;

- ICAO, AirLaws and Rules of the Air.

- Air Traffic Management Theory.

- Aircraft Recognition and Principles of Flight.

- Aviation Meteorology.

- Aerodromes and Ground Aids.

- Aeronautical Information Services.

- Communication Procedures.

- Communication, Navigation and Surveillance.

- Air Navigation Theory.

- Aeronautical Charts.

- Flight planning.

- Aircraft Systems and Performance                                           

- Aviation Geography.

- Introduction to Human Factors.

Minor subjects

- Introduction to Safety Management system.

- Aviation Security Awareness.

- Introduction to Quality Management System.

Duration

The course covers four main phases namely; formal classroom instructions, automation, field attachment and On the job training (OJT).

- Foreigners will attend 9 weeks only (Phase I) with anticipation that they will cover the remaining phases in their own countries.

-Tanzanians will attend 42 weeks as follows:

        . Phase I (9 weeks): Formal classroom instruction (Theory).

        . Phase II (4 weeks): AIS automation techniques which are directly related to AIM duties.

        . Phase III (16 weeks): Field attachment to selected stations (Practical).

        . Phase IV (13 weeks): On the Job Training at AIM units.

Aim of the course

The course is designed to equip the participants with the level of knowledge and necessary skills required for effective and efficient management of operational staff deployed in Aeronautical Information Management.

This course is designed to impart knowledge and skills to aeronautical information practitioners on collection, processing, presenting and interpretation of Aeronautical spatial data using digital means.

This course is designed to impart knowledge on motives, the steps involved in the transition(the roadmap) and current developments to provide a more efficient and effective AIM.

Pre-entry requirements

Aeronautical Information Officers Course and  experience of at least four (4) years  in aeronautical information management.

- Aeronautical Information Product

- Provision of raw Data

- NOTAM

- Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunication Network (AFTN)

- Introduction to Digital NOTAM

- Introduction to World Geodetic System 1984 in NOTAM

- Introduction to Electronic Terrain And Obstacle Data (E-TOD) in NOTAM

- Instructions and guidance for the completion of the NOTAM, ASHTAM, SNOWTAM and TRIGGER NOTAM.

Aeronautical Information Officer Course, Flight Operation Officers/Flight dispatcher or Personnel with three years’ experience in aviation related fields.
