Course Aim

This workshop is designed to equip participants with knowledge, skills and attitude required to contribute effectively to the development, implementation, review, and continuous improvement of an effective Airport Security Programme (ASP) within their respective states or airports in accordance with ICAO Annex 17, Security Manual Doc 8973 (Restricted) and other applicable aviation security requirements.

  1. Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) aviation security personnel;
  2. Airport operators and airport security managers;
  3. Aircraft operators/airline security managers;
  4. Aviation security inspectors and auditors;
  5. Government agencies with aviation security responsibilities (e.g., police, customs, immigration, intelligence, and military representatives);
  6. Air cargo regulated agent security personnel;
  7. Aviation security training managers and instructors; and
  8. Members of national or airport security committees involved in policy development and programme implementation.

  • Background in aviation and/or security operations
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English

Workshop Content

  • Describe the ICAO requirements for an Airport Security Programme (ASP). 
  • Demonstrate ICAO’s Airport Security Programme (ASP) model outline, as well as guidance provided in the ICAO Aviation Security Manual (Doc 8973 – Restricted). 
  • Gain practical experience in drafting “sample” portions of an ASP.
