25 participants from SUMA JKT Guard, TANROADS and private institutions have commenced a Basic Drone Pilot Training Course at the Civil Aviation Training Centre (CATC), aimed at equipping them with the practical skills and knowledge to operate drones safely and in compliance with national and international aviation regulations.

The course was officially opened on 29 June 2026 by Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) Acting Director General John Nzulule, who said the rapid growth of drone technology is creating opportunities in sectors including infrastructure, agriculture, environmental management, security, emergency response and surveying. He stressed that increased drone use must be accompanied by strict adherence to aviation safety, security and regulatory standards.

CATC Principal Aristid Kanje reaffirmed the centre’s capacity to deliver industry oriented, competency based training using experienced instructors and modern facilities. SUMA JKT Guard Acting Managing Director Major Said Msuya urged participants, to approach the training with discipline and professionalism, saying the skills acquired would strengthen both their individual expertise and their institutions’ operational capabilities.
