CATC HOSTED ICAO OJTI COURSE, BRINGING TOGETHER AVIATION PROFESSIONALS FROM ACROSS AFRICA

The Civil Aviation Training Centre (CATC) hosted the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) On-the-Job Training Instructor (OJTI) Course from 13 to 17 July 2026.

Sponsored by the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) through its Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF), the course is designed to equip aviation professionals with the knowledge, skills and competencies required to deliver effective OJTI  in accordance with ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) and global best practices.

The programme has attracted participants from across the African continent, including Tanzania, Uganda, Mozambique, Comoros, Ghana, Togo, Cabo Verde, Namibia and Eswatini. The diverse participation underscores the importance of regional cooperation in strengthening aviation safety and developing a highly skilled workforce for Africa’s aviation sector.

Officially opening the course, CATC Principal Mr. Aristid Kanje welcomed the delegates and encouraged them to take full advantage of the training opportunity.

The five day programme is expected to enhance participants’ instructional capabilities while promoting the harmonisation of aviation training standards across Africa. It also reflects the shared commitment of CATC, ICAO and AFCAC to strengthening human resource development and advancing aviation safety throughout the continent.
